Village Red™: Cardinal, a warm scarlet that hums in low light.

Think of sealing wax pressed onto cream paper, of a poppy held flat against sunlight, of the leather spines of old books. The colour is saturated and confident, carrying a cherry warmth at its centre. Its matt finish hushes the brightness and lends a velvet steadiness, deeper in shadow and brighter where the light falls true. Up close, a faint cooler undertow hums beneath the warmth.

In morning sun it reads bright and clean, almost lacquered, with the cherry note warming the whole wall. Under lamplight it deepens to a slow ember glow, quieter and more sumptuous, pulling shadow into the corners.

It suits dining rooms, snugs, hallways and studies, anywhere you want a room to feel held and warm after dark. Try it with aged brass, warm oak, unbleached linen and a soft bone white on the ceiling.

Crafted the Knuckles way. Water-based, low-VOC, high-coverage interior emulsion, hand-mixed in small batches in the UK. Rich pigment and a silky matt finish that holds its depth on the wall.
