Quilted Plum™: dusky mauve, a soft bruise of plum and slate.

The shade sits somewhere between stewed damson and a faded velvet curtain, with slate-grey undertones that keep the plum grounded and grown up. It carries the flour bloom of a dark plum skin, or the dim warmth inside a long-used hymnbook binding. It reads as a muted, smoky mauve rather than a sweet purple, with just enough warmth to feel inhabited.

In full daylight it softens towards a cool heather, almost dusty rose on the grey side. Under lamplight it thickens into a richer prune, close to crushed blackberry.

Works in sitting rooms, snugs, bedrooms and north-facing hallways where a quiet depth is wanted. Pairs cleanly with chalky off-white, aged brass, walnut, oatmeal linen and pewter.

Crafted the Knuckles way. A water-based, low-VOC, high-coverage interior emulsion, hand-mixed in small batches in the UK. Rich pigment gives a silky matt finish that reads deeply and without glare.

Coverage is roughly twelve square metres per litre at two coats. Order an A6 hand-painted sample first to see how the colour behaves on your walls before committing.
