Pulp™: damson, a bruised-velvet hush.

A deep, oxidised plum that sits between aubergine and smoked heather, with just enough red in its bones to keep it warm. It has the look of damson skin crushed under thumb, or mulberry stain set deep into linen. The cool grey undertone stops it tipping into pink, and gives it a dusty, windowsill-fruit quality.

In daylight it reads cool and powdery, leaning toward pressed iris and smoked lilac. Lamplight pulls the red forward and it turns mulberry, thicker and more enveloping.

Sits well in dining rooms, snugs and panelled studies, or as a full-height wash in a bedroom. Pair it with aged brass, oxblood leather, unbleached linen and chalky off-whites for a grown-up, slightly gothic warmth.

Crafted the Knuckles way. Water-based, low-VOC and high-coverage, our interior emulsion is hand-mixed in small batches in the UK. Rich pigment loading gives a silky matt finish that reads deeply and without glare.

One litre covers approximately twelve square metres, and we recommend two coats for full depth. Order an A6 hand-painted sample to live with the colour on your own walls before committing.
