Farm Fog™: a hushed slate that holds the weight of a grey morning.

This is the colour of woodsmoke drifting low across a ploughed field, of wet pewter, of ink thinned with rainwater. It settles on the wall like a held breath, cool and considered, with just enough blue in its bones to read as quiet rather than cold. There is a softness underneath the depth, the kind of softness you find in the hour before the world properly wakes up.

In daylight, Farm Fog leans toward a composed slate, holding its shape cleanly and reflecting a gentle blue-grey that sits well against pale wood floors. Come evening, under lamplight, it draws inward and turns plummier, almost charcoal, with warmth rising through the pigment as the light softens.

It suits studies, snugs, dining rooms and north-facing bedrooms, where the calm depth of the colour earns its keep. Pair it with aged brass fittings, honeyed oak, a bone-white ceiling and trim in the same tone one shade lighter. It sits handsomely alongside deep olive upholstery, oxblood leather, pale ticking stripe and unbleached linen.

Crafted the Knuckles way. Farm Fog is a water-based, low-VOC interior emulsion, hand-mixed in small batches in our UK workshop. A high pigment load gives dense, even coverage and a silky matt finish that holds its colour under scrutiny, with that gently chalky hand we build every tin around.

Coverage is approximately 12 m² per litre, and two coats will give you the depth this shade is built for. If you are weighing it up, order an A6 hand-painted sample and live with it on the wall for a day or two before committing.
