Desiccation™: a warm, sun-cured tan grounded in dried earth.

Desiccation sits firmly in the warm brown family, a muted tan with quiet ochre in its bones. Think tobacco leaves pressed between book pages, or the shadow inside a clay amphora. It has enough red in its mix to feel human and enough yellow to feel dry, landing somewhere between tanned hide and late-summer grass. Flat, grounded, confident without being loud.

In morning light it opens up, pulling towards a dusty golden camel with a faint sun-bleached shimmer. By late afternoon the yellow retreats and richer cocoa notes step forward. Under warm lamplight it turns almost caramel, wrapping the walls in a low, soft glow that flatters timber, brass and old linen.

It suits studies, dining rooms, snugs and hallways that want to feel considered rather than stark. Pair it with cream or putty trim for softness, or oxblood and inky navy for drama. It plays well with rattan, walnut, rusted iron, terracotta pots and unbleached linen.

Crafted the Knuckles way. A water-based, low-VOC, high-coverage interior emulsion, hand-mixed in small batches in the UK. The pigment load is heavy so colour sits flat and true, with a silky matt finish that never feels plasticky.

Expect around 12 m² per litre, applied in two coats for proper depth. If you’re sitting on the fence, order an A6 hand-painted sample first. Swatches tell one story, your wall in your own light tells another.
