Cottage Garden is a powdery lilac that settles somewhere between wisteria just past its peak and sweet pea petals pressed into cream paper. On a sample card it reads as dusty and gentle: a mauve with enough cool blue in the undertone to stop it drifting pink, and enough grey to keep it from reading sugary. Within the Knuckles range, it sits among the softer purples, a quiet shade rather than a bold one.

In bright daylight, Cottage Garden opens up and lets the blue-lilac lift forward, the colour of a foxglove spike seen from across the garden in late morning. As the light softens towards evening, the greyer mauves take over, and the walls settle into something closer to pressed lavender in a linen drawer. Candlelight pulls it warmer still, closer to a muted heather.

It suits bedrooms, dressing rooms, reading nooks, nurseries, and small sitting rooms where you want a room to feel hushed rather than busy. Pair it with chalky off-white trim, aged brass, limewashed oak, warm putty-grey skirting, or a soft sage on cupboard interiors.
