BORDEAUX™ INTERIOR EMULSION PAINT
Bordeaux™: a deep wine-red interior emulsion with a slow, cellar-dark pull.
Bordeaux is a dark, quiet red that carries more brown and cocoa than crimson. Think of a glass of aged cabernet held to candlelight, or the cut edge of a dried Morello cherry. Pigment-heavy enough to feel almost lacquered on the wall, it reads less as a red and more as a weight in the room, a shade that asks the lights to come down a little.
In bright daylight the colour holds its shape, letting the browns in the undertone do the work so the walls feel grounded rather than loud, closer to polished mahogany than to a berry. As the afternoon fades, Bordeaux deepens into a slow, inky wine, the shadows taking on the look of spilt port on oak. By lamplight it turns almost black in the corners, leaving only the warmest edges of red catching on picture frames and glass.
It suits dining rooms, bars, snugs, reading corners, and panelled studies where you want the walls to gather the room in rather than bounce light around. Pair it with chalky cream, aged brass, smoked oak, dark walnut, and a soft oat-coloured linen on the sofa.
Crafted the Knuckles way: a high-pigment, ultra-durable interior emulsion with Class 1 wet scrub resistance and an ultra-low VOC content of less than 1g/l. The finish is a chalky flat matt, the kind of surface that reads like fresh plaster in good light. Every tin is mixed to order in Great Britain, vegan-friendly and eco-conscious, with no shortcuts taken on pigment load.
One litre covers approximately 14m². Touch dry in 2 hours, recoat after 4. Two coats recommended for the full depth of colour. Order a hand-painted sample first so you can see Bordeaux settle on your own wall, under your own light, before you commit to the tin.
